well over a year infact, i actually forgot i had this page, until my partners siblings started thier blogs (one from germany one from canada) and i wanted to comment... i have a great password obviously as i still remember it lol.

i think a little work is needed to make this page more me, so i figure i may just give up all together.. i mean its not as if ive been dedicated to it ever have i...
so for now i think i might just stick with bebo, its definatley my kind of user friendly (ie its perfect for computer illiterate people) you can get to it on the my url link (see if i knew what i was doing you could have clicked on the words get to it) its got lots of photos, and i hope to actually blog some stuff worth reading... regulary too!!!

My dad (love him) sent me this in an email. I wasnt a child of any of these decades so im sure the reason he sent it to me is beacuse he knows how much i value freedom, and responsibility hahaha. that and he wants me to know how "brave" he was.

TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED the 1930's 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's !!
First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank
while theycarried us.

They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and
didn't gettested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, our baby cribs were covered with bright
colored lead-based paints.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets
and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we
took hitchhiking.

As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags.
Riding in the back of a pickup on a warm day was always a special treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle.
We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this.

We ate cupcakes, twinkies, white bread and real butter and drank soda pop
with sugar in it, but we weren't overweight because
WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING !

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we
were back when the streetlights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day. And we were O.K. There was
only one phone in the house and you asked permission to use it.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then
ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into
the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games
at all, no 99 channels on cable, no video tape movies, no surround sound, no
cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet or Internet chatrooms..........
WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no
lawsuits from these accidents.

We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not
live in us forever.

We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays,
made up games with sticks and tennis balls and although we were
told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door
or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them!

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't
had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of.
Theyactually sided with the law!

This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem
solvers and inventors ever!
The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new
ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned
HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL!

And YOU are one of them! CONGRATULATIONS!

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to
grow up as kids,
before the lawyers and the government regulated our lives for our
own good.

And while you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know
how brave their parents were.

Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors,
doesn't it?!

Helen Clark’s defence of David Benson Pope amuses me, Saying the Victims should have come forward sooner. Well Helen if this is the case. . .

What about that Nichols lady who was "assaulted" with police batons and forced to have sex with those police officers.
What about the Complaints of the unusual treatments at psychiatric hospitals in the 90's.
What about the Catholic church under constant barracking for naughty priests.
What about the apology you made to the early Chinese immigrants for the way they were treated.
What about the Treaty settlements.

No complaints were made at the time of ANY of these incidents!!
oh wait, no labour ministers were directly involved in any of these were they... well then that’s a whole other story isn't it. i forgot you were never a fan of ONE LAW FOR ALL.

Does anyone remember what Helen said when confronted with the agent orange allegations.
"its worth pointing out that in 1964 i was a fourth former in high school"

why is it ok for her to be a young naive helpless 4th former and not anyone else?
I myself was 14 in the fourth form, and all I can say is Helen your lucky David Benson Pope wasn’t old enough to be your teacher!

Uni Games here i come.

Not blogging for a week is kinda normal with me, but this time i have a reason/ excuse. Tomorrow morning im heading up to Auckland for the 2005 university games. I have been living and breathing unigames for the past few weeks especially. and this next week will be no exception.

So much hard work has gone in to these games and i hope it all pays off!

Nador came to Play today, By play i mean he came to spout Green Party nonsense at campus.
i had the giggles for the most part of it, but decided id ask a question anyway,
My Question was along the lines of this

"i read the Greens website and on it you advocate Free tertiary education, id just like to know if the greens would put up taxes in order to provide a free tertiary education, and if so. why is it then fair that a plumber who works 16 hour days to put food on the tablefor his family and pay the bills, has to fork out for my education if i choose to study to be a lawyer."

im not gunna attempt to qoute him in full, cos he went on for a while, but his reply (and believe me i was shocked) was that he doesnt believe in income taxation. he believes people shouldnt be taxed for "goods", but rather "bads" such as pollution (i cant remember but did the greens support the fart tax?)

at 2pm he then came to speak to the Executive(those of us that could be bothered) and the one thing i guess i was annoyed at the most relates to a Debt write off policy. where efectivly the better job you get the more you pay on your loan regardless of qualification. i asked him to explain what would happen in the following situation:

Kerry and Maddy both graduate with a law degree, Maddy gets a job at a top law firm, kerry decides to work in a community based law center, earning significantly less than maddy.
and would his policy mean that Kerry would have her loanwriten off before maddy and there for pay less for her education than maddy did.

He said yes that was correct. Kerry because she went into a lower paying job would pay off less of her loan than maddy.

and it all tied in to something he said in the quad, The rich are rich enough to pay more.

am i the only person who thinks this is all Crap?? I mean why does a party, who proclaims to stand for fairness, and helping families advocate this sort of stuff. The Greens have it seriously wrong. If so called "rich" people are taxed more do they honestly believe that they will stay in this country and continue to contribute to our economy?

so yeh why the Nandor report u ask ? its not that i would ever be a green voter, i wouldnt even consider it, but it just irritates me so much to have this sort of attitude in our country. by attitude i mean this whole notion that successful people should be punished through not only taxation, but a failing education system, crazy employment laws and so much more.
The Greens would do nothing to stop these things or change them! Nandor talked alot about how he believes they will have a huge input into the labour govt. and that they are looking stronger every day. i dont think labour will ever let the greens push them round, but if such an event occurs, i will seriously consider finishing my tertiary education, and bringing my family up somewhere else.

Rodney and that Pocket Rocket

So there we were, sitting with Rodney Hise in parliaments temporary Bar after a really interesting tour, and Meet in greet with the man himself and who should walk in but Dear ol Tonto (Clayton Cosgrove), by himself i might add... the opportunity was to good to miss, Rodney was quick of the mark and the converstaion went a lil something like this.

Rodney: Clayton,

Clayton: Rodney.

Rodney: Why dont you Join us for a drink? you look like you need a friend.

Clayton: No rodney thats your department (exeunt)

Clayton clearly missed the large group of young people surrounding Rodney.

The night was great fun, Rodneys an amazing person, and is an asset to NZ politics, and the people of this country.

Well hes gunna be up at uni This avo debating Matt Robson on TAX should be good!!

my head hurts

my head hurts, for 3 reasons,
1)i drunk a wee bit too much last night
2)i banged it on the wall last night after drinking a wee bit to much
3)annoying little people keep talking to me about things that i couldnt care less about. (id probably be more tolarating if i hadnt had a wee bit to much to drink)

well ok the 3rd one i might have to exagerate on, see the only people ive really spoken to today are my boyfriend jamie(sweetie your not annoying) Dave and Jeremy. its more the emails ive been recieving and i can just hear these voices in my head as i read the emails. not to mention the blogs ive been reading today, they all really make my head spin.

so yes i have voices in my head, but these arent those voices that try tell you whats good or bad etc, they are whiney socialist voices...and i dont mean the "daddy can i have $20" whiney i mean the "tax the rich and not the poor" whiney. Complain and wave a banner is all they ever seem to do. i mean really where does it get them in the end?

anyway i was reading this blog where my good friend Brendan was being attacked for... oh no shock horror being right wing. but what really got to me is how everyone assumed they knew what sort of person brendan was. and then when i looked at thier profiles they claim to be freethinkers, open minded etc. which i guess they are unless of course they are talking to a member of the VRWC (vast right wing conspiracy) cos we are just WRONG!!! cant be reasoned with either. just abuused.

now im the first to admit that i can be judgemental at times (i went to an all girls school some habits are hard to get rid of) but i would never assume to know someones background based on one post on a blog. i mean hell if i did i sure as hell would never talk to Jeremy Greenbrook, or Nick Kelly!

i know people are intitled to thier opinions, and should feel free to rant them whenever possible, i just thought we were a little more civilised than "lets attack a person as opposed to their politics, wont that be fun" i dont even know where im going with this but meh, i havent blogged in a while so i thought id write something,
and due to the fact my head hurts i probably havent made much sense.

My mother didn't turn her clock back so woke me at 7am with the following txt message:
"fantastic photo in paper not sure about the world knowing I vote labor though well done."
I love my mum, her politics no, but her yes.
I called her despite the ungodly hour and we chatted for a while about the article, which I might add IM really pleased with.
Mum hadn't realized how much influence her and dad have had on my beliefs.
I had a really good upbringing, both of my parents are hard workers, and taught me to always strive to be the best. They were the ones who first taught me about personal responsibility, it was them who made sure I had every opportunity possible. They sent me to schools that they believed I would flourish at. They worked there asses off to provide for me and my younger brother.
But they, along with many others are the ones still being punished for wanting the best for their children. Most parents don't have a choice when it comes to schooling, and don't get to keep more of the money they earn. This is a shame. Where are the party's who advocate 'Family values' when it comes to school choice and lower taxes. The govt believes it can spend money on trying to improve family life through its ahem 'working for families package' Rather than let parents like mine keep more of their own money in the first place so that they can properly provide for their own children. Helen Probably wouldn't know how to raise 2 Children whilst juggling a mortgage, school fees, sport on Saturday, drama on Wednesdays and dance on Monday. She might have a theory on it, but IM willing to bet she couldn't put that theory into practice effectively through legislation!

it used to be my favourite song when i was little, and it came into my head when i saw trevor mallards bright read panel van in the hutt yesterday and my friend mentioned NCEA.
well anyway theres this line that says
'i believe the children are the future, teach them well and let them lead the way'
and another line goes
'I decided long ago, never to walk in anyones shadow, if i fail if i succed at least ill live as i believe, no matter what they take from me they cant take away my dignity, because the greatest...."
ok so i wont write the whole song out but you get my point. and yes i know that there is a happy clappy part of the song about loving yourself etc etc but i guess it just made me think more about how much i hate the current labour govt. i was wathing 10 things i hate bout you the other day, and i decided to write my own poem like cat did.
so here goes.

i hate the way you talk to us like we're not even here,
i hate the lies and stats you spin
and the pathetic way you scare
I hate how you take my money
and then spend it all on shite
i hate they way you think you know
how i should run my life

Right, for those of you who occasionally skim my site in the hope that i have contributed something special/funny/insightful/miniscule to this blogging world, i am here to reassure you that im going to blog. i must blog. i knew i was going to be hopeless at this, i never could keep a diary when i was younger. but i really mean it when i say im going to blog as often as possible, maybe every day! woohoo!!!
Those who know me know how opinionated i am, and that given the opportunity to talk its pretty damn hard to shut me up ;) so i dont know why i have so much difficulty blogging, maybe im lazy when it comes to computer stuff... oo oo oo i know i need a computer that i can talk to and it types everything for me!! yes that would work, hmmm....

Ideas into ACTion

Well 12 hours ago i was slowly getting closer to wellington after spending 3 fantastic Days at the ACT Conference at the SKYCITY Convention centre Auckland.
Now the word fantastic doesnt rellay sum up quite how awesome this weekend was. We had a great line up of speakers, an amazing leaders dinner, and i got to meet some incredible minds from all around the country. One thing that really made my weekend was the number of young people who attended, i think in total there were 20 -30 enthusiastic, bright, and committed ACT supporters under the age of 30, which was great.

Catherine Judd and Rodney Hide gave incredible speeches. They along with the speeches given by the other 8 MP's really made me proud to be part of a party with such vision and common sense.

It became clear to me at the Conference that National really are no better than Labour. they wont change anything. what they will do is TRY to do things better, NZ can expect little change if national wins at the next election, dont forget NCEA, the RMA and many more of "labours" mistakes started with the National Party. NZ needs ACT, the centre right Needs ACT.
I truly believe ACT will return to parliament this election, better than ever.

my lil rant bout the police...

Is anyone else confused at these sydney riots??
i mean its sad that 2 people died i guess but the reaction of people in the area baffles me.
How is it that 2 youths steal a car, the police chase them in thier STOLEN vehicle, the car crashes, the boys die and the police are in the wrong???
did i mention that the car was STOLEN!!!
i saw one of the boys fathers on TV he was upset, as you would be if your son was dead, but he blamed only the police, saying his son was a good boy who didnt misbehave.... it seemed like he forgot the reason his son was being chased in the first place was because he STOLE A CAR!!!!

i dont get it, when police dont do thier jobs we complain about the huge amount of crime and how useless they are blah blah blah, and when they do do thier jobs we have people attacking them in the streets. i know this hapened in aussie but it happens here in NZ too. New Zealand police are already set up to be targets due to the useless minister of police we currently have, A man who shouldnt be in parliament let alone have that particular profile! a man who believes women are more concerend with bad drivers than they are with being attacked in thier homes.
I do realize that cops in NZ arent the bees knees, there are some bad ones, but their are alot of good ones too, and its time they stopped bearing the brunt of those in power, the ones who should be getting our agro seem to escape it!

i have returned briefly to the world of blogging. due to orientation ive been absent for quite some time.

i just want to say THE SHINS are absolute legends. their gig on monday night was fanfukintastic.
the guys from the shins were so cool!!! we had a few drinks with them afterwards and they were a hell of alot of fun!!!
and........................................................ i met jack black!!!

ahhh ok so yeh im a startstruck lil girl but hey... not everyday you get to meet talented people like the shins and mr black.

the state of the nation...

Attended parliament today for the first time in 2005.

Helen Rambled on and on and on and on... She talked alot about the governments vision for New Zealand. note i said the GOVERNMENTS VISION for New Zealand, nothing about the vision of the New Zealand people.
Oh yeah and apparently we all need lessons in how to save... cheers helen but id much rather a tax cut so i had actual money to save!

Brash did well, much much better than i expected, he was funny (and i dont mean just to look at) and i truly believe that if every Voting NZer (that is not abusing our current benifit system) had a copy of his speech National would be in government after the next election. that is if they were able to read it due to our failing education system.

Winston peters is a showman pure and simple. He said nothing of substance, got a few laughs from all around the room but no SUBSTANCE.

Rodney was his usual upbeat self, and pulled helen up on the hypocracy of her governments policy. Pointing out that Helen would have us believe Labour is tough on crime due to increasing prison numbers, and sentences. she fails to address violent crime that is on the rise, and the pathetic sentences being handed out.

i would give my opinion on the remaining 4 speeches but as soon as Jenette opened her mouth i had to leave.

to sum up... what this country needs is a National led/ACT government... PLEASE!!!!

well its 11am and already i have had a lively morning...

for those of you who dont know im one of 10 exec members on the student exec at Victoria university.
for those of you who do know me it wont come as much a suprise that i just found out i am the Bane of the education vice presidents life. i always knew she had issues with me, but to actually see it in writing was quite special :)
She had a lil rant about my not believing in womens rights blah blah blah, leaving out the fact that i actually do i just see it more as individual rights that we all have both men and women. she would have her readers believe i think women should be chained to the stove all thier life.
so just to clear things up for you folk, i believe women have the right to choose, in all areas of thier life. feminist movements in the past have given us heaps ofopportunities and its up to us as individuals to lead our lives through the choices we make,
i believe I have the right to live my life as a women the way I see fit as long as I a) accept the consequences of my actions, b) take personal responsibility for my choices and c) I do not inflict on anyone elses personal freedom. simple enough i thought...

Well after reading my post from last night, even i was shocked at my spelling, maybe spelling sore like saw shows that i have hidden violent tendencies or something...

well im waiting in my office for day 2 (day 4 if you included womens conference) of the national socialist convention... opps NZUSA conference. but despite that i am in a fantatsic mood. why?
well im listening to gwen stefanis new solo abulm (L.A.M.B) im a big ska music fan and this solo stuff of hers is soo different to her days with no doubt, i havent heard a ska song yet on this new album, but thats not a bad thing her voice makes up for the fact portions of it reak of hip hop.

anyway im sure you all wanted my review of Gwens albumn.

oooh how can i forget Orewa 05, now any one who knows me knows im not exactly nationals number 1 fan, but Dr Brash made excellent points in his speech. and i do believe he should be the 10th ACT MP. I dont think it will cause as much a stir as Orewa 04, but i think he will get alot of support from this, he said nothing but the truth, and already labour are showing signs of acting on what he said which give it even more credability.

well time for me to prepare to enter the lions den, :)

well not quite, but i nearly had a heart attack at age 20 today. why i hear you ask well...

Jim Anderton came to speak to NZUSA conference today and broke my capitialist heart when he advocated a 72% tax rate. he dosent intend it as policy like he did in 1992. but he does think its an acceptable top rate for tax, and unfortunatley so did the majority of people in the room. which is another scary thing because these people were all students like me, and are the future of this country.

i rant and rave about NZUSA forever but my fingers would get saw! but trust me when the rage becomes to much you will all be the first to know.

Well as of midnight Newzealanders are now aloud to lie to prospective employers!
another policy typical of helens socialist army which prevents employers finding out criminal history of an employee... not only that but they can get fined $10,000 if they try to find out!!!

This clean slate bill is ridiculous! I find it disturbing that effectivly with this bill everyone can be viewd to potentially have a criminal past and if you dont your not allowed to prove it!!!
theres no process of applying to have your records suppressed, it automattically happens! after 7 years of not re-offending you wake up one morning with no criminal convictions!

i read the following on Stephen Franks site
“This law isn’t about giving second chances. It is about nine, ten or fifteen second chances. Most New Zealanders who know about one or two long past offences of course would and do give offenders a second chance. But this law applies no matter how many previous offences there were, as long as the crime hasn't resulted in prison. Our ‘play way’ justice system means the average prisoner has had nine previous convictions before going to prison."
and
“The next step will be even more bizarre. The Select Committee adopted the suggestion of the Human Rights Commission, that it become illegal for New Zealanders to discriminate against someone with a proven crime history, or to give preference to someone who has never offended,” Mr Franks said.

this bill is joke, and has been very well kept out of the public eye... i wonder why?

Well yes it has been quite a while, i knew id be no good at this Blogging thing.
and contrary to what amanda thinks, my life is not an empty vessel, rather full actually...

Anyway,
The supreme court ruled in favour of the ACT party yesterday Pretty soon Donna Awatere Huata will cease to be a Member of Parliament. ACT will once again have its 9 MPs that New Zealand voted for in the last election. Kennith Wang is likely to be sworn in before parliament resumes.

On another note, The Seabed and forshore bill has been in committe this week, and what a disgrace it is! NZ First are saying they have ensured one law for all which is absolute shite!!! there are clauses that completley alienate non maori NZers as well as diminishing the status of property rights in this country. It's an absolute shambles, just another piece of usless labour crap that will not do anything but harm this nation of ours! And dont even get me started on this constitution thing labour is starting... smoke screen if i ever saw one....
